Publisher's Note:
- Years ago, we set sail on a journey and traversed the globe with the mission of seeking out and finding music's most astounding Rock & Metal Chicks.

- In that startlingly successful quest, we strove to gather together in one place, this place, only the most brilliantly amazing singers and musicians that ever walked the planet.

- If you could possibly imagine in your wildest dreams your own personal collection of absolutely the best singing, best shredding, best growling, best looking, most bad-assed Rock & Metal Chicks that ever existed on the face of the earth, in the history of all mankind, bar none, this would be your collection. Face it, these women are Rock Royalty! We trust you will thoroughly enjoy experiencing the sights and sounds of these Ladies of Rock as much as we enjoyed producing them into this magnificent creation for you.

Sirenia's "Sirenian Shores" - It's kind of a neat album. I liked the title track a fair bit; it starts out with a nice intro. I also loved the acoustic
version of Meridian. Save Me from Myself is not a song I have ever liked, but if you like the song, the remix is not bad. Obire Mortem is
also a really good song, and the cover of First We Take Manhattan is decent. My only complaint is that there are not more new songs
on this, which is why I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Eyes Set to Kill's "Underground Sounds" - It's about time somebody wrote a review for Lexia. This is a great Cd put out by a very talented
young lady, the lead singer for Eyes Set to Kill. I like almost every song on the Cd, but most of all the acoustic songs, I think they were
very well done. This is a must buy for any Lexia fan!!!

The Agonist's "Once Only Imagined" - It's a pretty decent debut album from Montreal's "The Agonist." It's your standard metalcore a la
Killswitch Engage, only instead of Howard Jones, you have Alissa White-Gluz behind the microphone. Which is stellar. I have to say that
"The Agonist" isn't a total "rip off" of Killswitch Engage (or other metalcore bands). They do their own thing and (I think) make their place
well defined within the metalcore genre. I do enjoy their sound, and I really enjoy listening to Alissa's performance vocally. She's awesome!

Evanescence's "Fallen" - I've tracked through this disc a bunch of times now - It just keeps getting better with each listen. It didn't take long
to realize "Fallen" was going to make its way into my rotation of discs I listen to a lot. I found myself anxiously waiting to hear what came
next while listening to it, which rarely happens. Their music is hauntingly dark, and beautiful at the same time, and it does have its "rock"
moments, thanks to some really nice guitar sounds. And I *love* Amy's voice! The production is huge sounding; the songs are beautifully
textured with keyboards, strings and layered back up vocals. This is not a 'rap-metal' band, if you've only heard the "Bring Me To Life"
single. There's a lot of depth to this group that you might not be expecting to hear ... and a lot of interesting things going on. Definitely not a
"throw on at a party" CD - But one that I find myself wanting to explore beginning to end, again and again. Besides the lead single, I really
like "Tourniquet", "Going Under", "Haunted", "My Immortal", "Whisper"

Nightwish's "Imaginaerum" - To begin, I have been a long-time Nightwish fan- right there with them since they released "Angels Fall First".
I have accepted Nightwish's growth over the years, and there will be no Tarja/Anette debate here. I loved the work the group has produced
with Tarja, and I love the work they have produced with Anette. ( I don't think I'll get over Roy Khan leaving Kamelot, tho, but that's a
different story). However, many refer to the post-Tarja days as "The New Nightwish Era" when in all honesty, I believe they have been
growing from one album to the next, all the way down the line. Sure, compensations have to be made for the vocal ranges of whoever their
current vocalist is, but I still believe this was the direction Nightwish was heading, even if they still had Tarja.

3-23-14 - inzane :
Arch Enemy's "Dead Eyes See No Future" - For almost as long as I've listened to Arch Enemy's latest studio album, "Anthems of
Rebellion", the song "Dead Eyes See No Future" has been my favorite piece by the band. The fierce rhythms and drumming (one of Daniel
Erlandsson's best performances, I think), the grim vocals (I still can't get over how effective Angela Gossow's voice is, knowing that it
belongs to a woman!), and one of the most amazing guitar riffs I've ever heard in my entire life (in the bridge, when Michael Amott is soloing),
are all only a few things that I like about that song. So when I heard it was going to be the lead track on an EP release, I of course was
psyched. Granted, the EP seemed like it'd be something only hardcore Arch Enemy fans (myself included) would want to go out of their
way to get, but when I received this for Christmas, I had no idea that it would be this good.

Unsun's "End of Life " - After listening to their debut single "Whispers" on their myspace page, I decided to purchase the entire album. I
must say that these guys are talented. The lead guitarist Mauser (who is also from the death metal band Vader) is very very good. He can
really jam out, and really shines in most of the songs in his solos. Heinrich, the bass guitarist, (is from the death metal band Vesania) keeps
the rhythm going strong with his riffs. I really love his slap bass solo in the song "Indifference." Vaaver, the drummer (also from Indukti) is
very talented, one of the best drummers out there. You can hear his distinctive sound throughout the album. Aya, the vocalist, isn't too bad.
Her tone is very clear, and she is pleasant to listen to. She is Polish so she does have a thick accent, but I don't have a problem with it. She
doesn't have the power of Sharon from Within Temptation or Cristina from Lacuna Coil, but she rounds out the band well.

Distillers' "Coral Fang" - I love this album. Absolutely love it. The lyrics, the music, the artwork... Everything about this album is great. Even
the 12 minute long feedback fest that is 'Death Sex'. I love that too. I have been a fan of The Distillers since 'Sing Sing Death House' came
out and I believe that this is a step up for them. I love the thrashy, hardcore, crazy sound of the first 2 albums, but honestly (and I'm trying to
be as unbiased as possible) this exceeds both those albums in my opinion. Maybe it's the divorce from Tim; maybe its the success of 'Death
House', but the lyrics of this album seem much more heartfelt and risqué than on any other album. Though I do wish that I could keep them
to myself forever; for them to remain unknown commercially, this album needs to be heard. Brody Dalle is an amazing songwriter, and this is
conveyed best through this album. I love every song on this album. Whether it be the adrenaline pumping 'Die On A Rope' or the acoustic
screamer 'The Hunger' all of these songs touch me in a special way. I strongly recommend that anybody, a fan or not, buys this album.

Leaves' Eyes' "Legend Land " - An affinity for Native American flavor in my symphonic metal led me to chose this album for the song
Skraelings. After listening to the album extensively though, Viking's Word has become my new favorite. Alexander Krull's voice is a grating
contrast in some of the songs (if you aren't a fan of his style), but Viking's Word would not be as good without him. Most of the album is
symphonic/operatic in nature, with Lyset standing alone as decidedly folk. On the downside, the music and lyrics of The Crossing seem
awkward, as if the song is forced and just doesn't flow together. I gave this album 4 stars because I like 4 of the 5 distinct songs on it.

VersaEmerge's "Fixed at Zero " - VersaEmerge is an incredible new rock band that I think deserves much more recognition than what they're
currently receiving. All of their previous EPs were very good, but Fixed at Zero is an incredible first full length album from this band. I can't
think of one track off of Fixed at Zero that I don't like...however a few of my absolute favorites are: Stranger, Up There, Fire (Aim Your
Arrows High), and Fixed at Zero. Also I know a lot of people are comparing them to Paramore, but I do not believe that the two bands have
any relation at all. Sure they both have a female singer, but that doesn't mean anything. VersaEmerge is much darker and mysterious in my
opinion. But I do think that any Paramore fan will love VersaEmerge.

3-18-14 - lighteningbolt :
Delain's "Lucidity " - I love the music on this album. I'm a fan of symphonic metal and Lucidity is a very beautiful album. It has the beautiful
guitars that I love so dearly, bass, drums, keyboards, *Deep Sigh* It's very rare, in my experience, to find a relatively new band that plays
very well together. The vocals of Charlotte Wessels are unique and interesting. In a world where most of the female fronted bands have high
soprano singers, Charlotte is refreshing with her serene yet spunky (poppy) sound. I recommend Delain for those who like Symphonic Metal
but want a change of pace from the lovely high soprano vocalists. I also recommend they check out Delain's official website or look for them
at My Space and listen to what the band has to offer before they decide to buy this item!

3-17-14 - manzier :
The Birthday Massacre's "Show and Tell" - The Birthday Massacre is a great act and they have produced some really great songs. I
personally loved Violet and the songs on it, with Blue and Happy birthday telling tales that had a really terrifc feel to them (and had a dark
side to them as well). I'm not sure about their following, however, because they have had to build it from the ground up because of their
Canadian origins and their inability to get a fair shake from the video tree (simply watch Blue and Shiver and you'll see what i mean). Taking
this further, the band decided to put together a live album from their almost constant touring and Show and Tell turned out great. Normally I
don't go for live acts in any shape or quise, but I've seen TBM three times now and have to say that they showed me a beautiful side to live
acts. Instead of their sound changing or the vocals not matching up, they managed to take their opening slot and turn it into one that was
purely electric. That meant that they had what it took to be an opening act, and you can see that on the live album. you can also tell something
about the band from seeing them live as well: unlike many of the bands that are around now, this is a cohesive unit that moves from one place
to another. They share themselves with their fans, too, and you can tell that simply by listening to the support they receive when they take the
stage and sound off. Hopefully this album will show people something more aobut them, and will make them pick up Nothing and Nowhere
and Violet.

3-16-14 - dontlikecountry :
Lacuna Coil's "Dark Adrenaline " - Lacuna Coil return with album number 6 "Dark Adrenaline" which see's the band return to their heavier
root's after their last album the mellower "Shallow Life" which was met with luke warm reviews from both fans and critics. Many long time
fans missed the heavier sound the band had developed especially on albums such as "Comalies" and "Unleashed Memories". There is no
lack of heavy riffs on "Dark Adrenaline". The signs were good when the first single "Trip The Darkness" was released as it contains some
heavy guitars and great vocal interplay between vocalists Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro. On the track "Kill The Light" which starts out
slow before giving away to a heavy riff, it's a song full of hooks. Elesewhere there is "Give Me Something More" which is a song full of
melody. Any doubt that Lacuna Coil weren't going to break out heavy riffs are put to bed by the time you reach the 7th song the brilliant
"I Don't believe In Tomorrow" which has Lacuna Coil almost sounding like Korn with downtuned guitars it's both dark and a heavy song, it
also features a great breakdown at the 2.40 mark that has Scabbia singing "I Avenge You" over and over.

3-15-14 - rocksteady :
Chthonic's "Takasago Army " - Not being entirely familiar with Chthonic's previous two albums, but reading about them recently as an opener
for Arch Enemy this fall on their North American tour, I was intrigued. After listening to their full album stream prior to the official release
today, I was impressed to say the least. There is a lot of Dimmu Borgir comparisons on various metal sites covering Chthonic, which I get to
an extent, but think is unfair. This band is not anything close to a Dimmu Borgir clone, they've developed a far more unique and enjoyable
style than simplistic black/death metal comparisons allow. Yes, when it comes to death and black metal, it is very difficult for any band to
pioneer anything resembling a "new" sound, so in that sense, comparing them to DB is good thing in my view, and should net Chthonic a
wider fanbase, one they clearly deserve. This album is simply awesome, combining elements of melodeath, black metal, and lots of
fascinating music styles indigenous to their home of Taiwan.

3-14-14 - raybuff :
Sick Puppies' "Dressed Up As Life" - Ever since I first saw the Free Hugs video on Youtube, I have been in love with Sick Puppies. On their
US debut, Sick Puppies did anything but disappoint me. Surprise me, yes. I was very surprised with how totally SOLID this CD was. Song
after song, I found my hand retracting from the skip button. I can honestly listen to the entire CD right through and enjoy every minute of it.
However, if you're in it just for the song "All the Same", you're in for a surprise when you hear the rest of the music. Sick Puppies definitely
surprised me with the diversity of sounds they had coming from the CD. Although "All the Same" is a great slow ballad reminiscing of a slight
Creed-like sound, much of their music is a bit more raw than I expected. A few songs I almost found myself head banging to, most notably the
songs "Cancer" and "Anywhere From Here". For a few seconds when I first heard those two songs, I almost thought I was listening to a
completely different band. In the song "Deliverance", they pull off a My Chemical Romance sound, and "The Bottom" almost reminds me a
bit of Avenged Sevenfold. "Pitiful" and "A-hole Father" are some of my other personal favorites on the CD. Heck, all of the songs are good
(with awesome, catchy lyrics might I add)!

3-13-14 - zapper :
Echoes of Eternity's "Forgotten Goddess " - Combine the massive drumming of Fear Factory, the excellent dual-guitar work of Iron Maiden,
and the best vocals this side of Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, and Leaves Eyes (ex-Theater of Tragedy), and you have just a hint of how
phenomenal this band really is. What you can't imagine, unless you listen, is how their sound is so totally captivating. This combination of
aggressive music and ethereal vocals, transcends Evanescence (Amy Lee is a great singer), and most other music in this genre of female lead
goth/symphonic metal. It really is a spectacular debut album; I cannot stop listening...it sucks you in, and just won't let go.

3-12-14 - handfull :
Paramore's "Riot" - The growth of the band is present. The record starts off with the heart pounding "For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic".
The guitars are at the best the band has ever been. Vocally, Hayley is stunning on the amazing, "Hallelujah", and "Let The Flames Begin".
Her vocals remain solid all the way through. Lyrically, one of the most "heart on sleeve" record's i've ever heard. Hayley obviously has been
doing a lot of searching and questioning in her life, and it comes through in the songs. It's common knowledge that the band are Christians,
and she sings it on her sleeve. But unlike other bands that do so, they appoarch it in a manner i think the only word to decribe is it, real. She
doesn't candy coat it, and talks about a lot of emotions and situations many people go through; Christian or not.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3-11-14 - iluvmetal :
In This Moment's "A Star-Crossed Wasteland " - I believe this album tops anything this band has done. There is an element similar to Five
Finger Death Puch here, with their guitar solos. One thing that floored me in the best sense of the word was Maria and Chris's working
together. She'll sing, he'll scream; they will switch; they'll duet with him backing her. It is an amazing effect. There is a flavor in their melodic
parts that brings back the flavor of their second album. The only thin I looked for is the way she used her voice on the first album, and other
than the great use of screaming vocals, I didn't really find it. Her voice, when singing, becomes sweeter on these second and third albums.
But this change doesn't detract in any way, shape, or form from this album. It is way over the top of their albums. Isn't there a saying about
how the whole is greater than the sum of the two halves? This applies to their two older albums, their flavor and style, and when brought
together they produce a powerful masterpiece. The song that I feel epitomizes this is "Iron Army". There is the addition of some excellent
orchestra here, reminiscent of the South American band Six Magics.

3-10-14 - pacino :
Epica's "Design Your Universe" - After the long anticipation of waiting for Epica to release a new CD, it is finally here! I'm not one to write
reviews on every CD I like, but I think this one deserves it. I truly believe this is one step forward for Epica once again. There isn't one CD
by this band I could really say stands out as my favorite because they all have their ups and downs. With Design Your Universe, the band
decided to go for a more "heavier" sound and prove why they belong in the symphonic metal genre. Many will argue it's a bad thing and many
will probably say it's good for them. I am one of those who says good for them! Fans of "Consign to Oblivion" may not be too happy with this
change as that was the only CD with very few of Mark's repeated growling, and altogether the CD had a more soft side to it.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3-9-14 - magda :
Within Temptation's "The Silent Force " - This is the third full-length album by the Gothic Metal band Within Temptation. Firstly it is very
different from their very first album Enter. In Enter, the songs were much slower, longer, Sharon's voice was more wailing, and had male death
vocals in. The atmosphere was melancholy and practically gothic doom. Silent force is more up-tempo, Sharon's voice has noticeably improved
and there are no death vocals. The songs themselves are very dynamic, from very gothic ("Forsaken") to ballad-like ("Pale").
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3-8-14 - luli :
Halestorm's "Halestorm" - As a hardcore rocker and a lover of symphonic metal, I was surprised that I have enjoyed this album as much as
I have since it is a very polished first release designed for 'mass popular appeal' (normally a musical death sentence). However, the very
powerful, over-the-top, and outstanding female vocal performance by lead singer Lizzy Hale, the catchy tunes and phrasing, and the very good
and well-practiced backup band make for a compelling listen. This is not a boring album or a series of plain-jane musical compositions. I found
myself playing this album over and over (maybe there is something wrong with me!). This band has been winding up a loooooong time before
releasing this album, and the effort is obvious. In any case, I have a weak spot for such powerful female singers - gets me right in the gut.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3-7-14 - highlife :
Garbage's "Beautiful Garbage" - There will be people who run out to get Garbage's new album that will predictably bemoan the group for not
releasing the sonic equivalent of a Version 3.0. I will start by saying I still believe Version 2.0 to be the group's crowning achievement to date.
But anyone who knows Garbage knows they are all about twisting and sampling pop conventions--experimenting with sound, creating new
hybrids of funky ear-candy, whether they draw from harder rock, simpler pop, or dancier techno. This album is by far Garbage's most eclectic,
and that's not a bad thing. Version 2.0 felt more uniform and polished, which is why I believe it to be a superior effort, but Beautiful Garbage
has fun with itself, especially in "Parade," "Till the Day I Die," and "Cherry Lips." The slower ballads aren't as haunting as previous slow
songs (like "Milk" and "You Look So Fine"), but they still make sure to earn the title's "beautiful."

3-6-14 - motleyy :
Guano Apes' "Proud Like a God" - After the first song, "Open Your Eyes", i was immediately sucked in. Yes, it was weird hearing a woman
rap (or what appeared to atleast sound like a rap), and at first, well, i'd thought she was a man by how she sounded. However, the rap like
song was somewhat catchy, and the more altern. rock styled chorus was even more catchy. Into the second track, at first, i thought that it
sounded alot like an Enya song, but then surprised me as Sandra (lead singer) launced into screaming accompanied by heavy guitars. Well,
to make a long story short, this album put me on an emotional roller coaster, but one that i enjoyed. You'd think with all of the different styles
of music that are explored on this album you might not like most of it, but the guano apes have a way of making it all sound the same
yet different.

3-5-14 - bpepper :
Horrorpops' "Bring It on " - I'm not particularly a huge fan of the Horrorpops. That being said I own this album, I have heard this album and I
have heard everyone's gripes about this album. I wouldn't call this 100% Psychobilly at all (although the slap-bass is apparent in some of the
songs and not so apparent in others) and I agree with one of the reviews below that this band was not trying to sound 100% Psycho. With that
I believe the Horrorpops have taken a new direction with this genre much like Tiger Army has with their third album and I commend them on
this. Who wants to hear the same old Psychobilly that you can hear and buy for a dime a dozen these days...? It all sounds the same! This new
Psycho/Rock/Punk hybrid music is a sigh of relief if you ask me... don't you agree?

Otep's "Ascension " - Let me just start out by saying that I've never seen such a diminutive person take over a stage like Otep Shamaya does
...and I've seen Dio. Nobody can ever question the intensity of a woman who has been known to pull out clumps of her own hair onstage: Otep
is the real deal; do not doubt this. The band's members -aside from the awesome Evil J on bass- may change, but the passion and the fury
remains a constant. Otep -both the band and the woman- is a true artistic chameleon, able to captivate fans with dark poetry and odd,
understated soundscapes that explode into a wall of pure sonic chaos that few bands can equal. "Sevas Tra" utilized Miss Shamaya's
considerable rapping prowess to create a focused metal album that retained it's thrashing intensity throughout. "House of Secrets" saw the
band ditching the tired rap-metal motif and stretching out artistically; concentrating on unique instrumentation and the build-up and release of
energy that contributed wonderfully to the band's impressive stage repertoire. And now, after a long wait, here we are.

Picture Me Broken's "Wide Awake " - If Paramore, My Chemical Romance, and Dethklok had a child together in some weird way, their child
would be Picture Me Broken. I first heard this band on either MTV or MTV2 playing Dearest (I'm So Sorry) but it was only a 20 second
sample. As I was listening to the song, the hairs on the back of my neck began to stand up, and my skin began to crawl. This is now one of my
favorite albums in my C.D. collection! In case you're curious about my musical background as you continue to read; I listen to Evanescence,
My Chemical Romance, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Paramore, The Vincent Black Shadow, Chester French, etc (in the rock genre). So if you can
relate to my collection, then you'll find that this review will be easy for your brain to digest. Plus, I own the Beats "Studio" headphones by
Dr. Dre and Monster, so I hear EVERYTHING in every song. Every song on this album is filled with awesomesauce! This is the type of
album that you can start from the beginning, and just listen through each song in it's entirety until the end. The songs are hypnotic;
Brooklyn's (vocals) voice is surprising strong, loud, and soothing; and the band themselves will make your head, and body move constantly!

Hydrogyn's "Bombshell " - "Vesper's Song" begins with front woman Julie's melodic voice over a distant guitar progression. As the track
continues, chunky riffs and pulsing drums help pump the track up. Julie unleashes her inner rage on "Blind," while the rest of the band sets
the pace with pure metal rhythms. Soft and emotional vocal tones mix with powerful and unleashed ones on "Breaking Me Down." Dual vocal
harmonies dominate the chorus of "Love Spoke." It's really difficult to accept anyone covering an AC/DC song except AC/DC, but the
ever-energetic Julie does just fine hanging with the big boys. Listen for some great guitar work courtesy of Jeff Westlake and Jeff Boggs.
Some of Hydrogyn's heaviest riffs come from "The Sand." They even through in a hypnotic guitar wail. "Book of Names" is loaded with
heavy riff after heavy riffs and some enduring vocals. It's just Julie and acoustic guitars on the moving ballad "Come Back to Me."
